1. Venue requirements

a. Indoors or outdoors with sufficient space.

b. Two parallel lines at 2 metres apart should be marked on the floor. However, there is no need to draw any side or back lines in this case.

c. No net is required.

 

2. Participants

There is no limit on age and gender. Participants are free to choose their preferred playing partner, e.g. parent and child.

 

3. Shuttlecock

a. Shuttlecock used can be the appropriate type conducive for either indoor or outdoor shuttle.

b. Only one shuttlecock shall be used throughout the 1-minute challenge. No changing of shuttlecocks is allowed.

 

4. Toss and Hit

a. This challenge requires a pair of players to cooperate across a distance of at least 2 metres by standing behind the parallel lines and facing each other when the game starts.

b. Player 1 will be using his/her hands to toss the shuttlecock to Player 2.

c. Player 2 will use his/her racket to hit the shuttlecock back to Player 1.

d. Player 1 will then use his/her hands to catch the shuttlecock and toss the shuttlecock back to Player 2.

e. Player 2 then uses the racket to hit the shuttlecock back to Player 1 and the play will continue in this cycle for one minute.

f. If the shuttlecock falls between the two parallel lines, Player 1 has to pick it up and resume his toss from the line at his side.

g. Players 1 and 2 must keep at least 2 metres apart at all times.

 

5. Basis of count

a. This event is designed to encourage cooperative playing and for players to practice for improvement of stroke accuracy. Competition is based on the most number of points recorded in one minute.

b. Each hit from Player 2 will be counted as one point.

c. In the event that the shuttlecock drops, it shall be picked up and play shall still continue within the one-minute time frame.

 

6. Format of challenge

There will be 2 rounds of this virtual challenge – a preliminary round whereby participants will submit their videos, and a final round whereby the 16 top-performing pairs of participants will be invited to an online live session.

 

Preliminary Round – Video submission

a. Participants are to fill up the registration form found from this website: www.helio.sg

b. Upon successful registration, participants will receive a confirmation email with their assigned group number.

c. Participants must then submit a 1-minute video of their play. Each registered group is only allowed to submit one video.

d. Videos are to be sent to the email address: onesbc21@gmail.com ; with the subject heading “Video Submission – Group number x / Participant Name 1 / Participant Name 2 / total points xx” E.g. “Video Submission – Group number 6 / Mary Anne / Peter James / total points 45”

e. Videos are to be submitted in any of these formats “MP4, M4V, MOV, AVI” with a file size no larger than 50 MB.

f. You may submit your video at any time before the preliminary round closes at 2359 hours on 22 August 2021.

g. The organizer reserves the right to disqualify a submission if the 1-minute video is found tampered.

h. Participants who have submitted more than one video will also be disqualified.

i. The 1-minute video submitted must at all times show a clear view of both players and the shuttlecock.

 

Final Round – Online Live

a. The 16 top-performing pairs of participants concluded from the preliminary round will be notified on 23 August 2021 through email, and invited to this final round. This round will be conducted via Zoom. The Zoom access details will be provided by 23 August 2021.

b. Date and time: 28 August 2021, 10am c. Participants are to follow the latest SMM measures. Masks are to be worn when play is conducted outdoors.

 

7. Referee’s decisions

a. Referees will make their collective final decision in the preliminary round based on all the videos submitted in accordance to the aforesaid requirements. The 16 top-performing pairs of players will advance into the final round.

b. The final round will be held via Zoom, and referees will be counting the number of points during the online livecast. In the event that more than one pair record the same number of points, groups affected will play another round of 1-minute until the first 3 top-performing pairs stand out.

c. In the event of any dispute, the referees’ decision is final.

 

8. Faults

a. When either player crosses over the line at his/her side, a fault is called. Any hit with a fault is not counted. b. A submission will be automatically disqualified if its 1-minute video is found tampered.
